Transferring your child from another school

Parents wishing to transfer their child to St Augustine's Catholic Primary School or those parents who are new to the area are warmly welcomed to come and visit our school.

In order to transfer your child to our school, parents should contact the Admissions Team at the Local Authority via the website: www.warrington.gov.uk/moving-schools

or telephone 01925 446226

Upon receipt of your application, the admissions team will contact us to assess availability of places. As we are a Voluntary Aided School, the relevant committee of the Governing Body may also be involved.

If successful, a letter will be sent out to parents to offer a place for their child. This will be done by the Local Authority. Parents will then be advised to contact school to determine a start date. Following the offer of a place, parents have a set timescale to either accept or decline the offer.

The information below provides further details about in-year transfers and admissions, and the local authroity in-year application form and St Augustine's supplementary form can also be found below for your convenience.

Admission to Reception

In line with our School Admission Policy, we have one intake into the Reception Class in September each year. The school year runs from 1st September to 31st August and children are admitted in the September prior to their fifth birthday.

Upon confirmation of a school place for the start of the academic year, parents are invited to a New Intake Meeting in the Summer Term to discuss their child's transition. Children will also have the opportunity to visit their new class and meet their teacher.

Please take time to look at our Reception Class page.

Admission to Nursery

Admission to Nursery (3 and 4 year olds)

Nursery children are admitted to Nursery in the term after their third birthday, subject to availability of places. Visits are held for nursery children to spend some time in their new setting with a parent/carer.  We then organise individual admission arrangements for each child.  Again, further details are provided upon confirmation of a place.

We offer nursery provision for three and four year olds.  The Government currently provide thirty hours a week to all children whose parents are each working a minimum of sixteen hours and earn under £100,000 p.a.

All parents must obtain a code for Early Years entitlement, please see the link below for more information regarding 3 & 4 Year Old Funding..

Children who do not fall into this category are entitled to fifteen hours a week.

The eligibility in both instances commences the term after the child's third birthday.  For fifteen hours, this is accessed as three hours each morning, Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 11.45am or each afternoon 12:15pm - 3:15pm.  Children entitled to thirty hours are in nursery from 8.45am to 3.15pm and remain in the same care with the same staff throughout the day including lunch and snack time.  You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch.  Details of current availability, and more information, is available from the School Office.
